MARTA is proposing a modification to Route 191 β Riverdale/ ATL Intl Terminal at their December mark up to better serve you. As such, they want to invite you to a community exchange AND public hearing to discuss the proposed service change. Details below. Date: Thursday, September 12, 2024 Time: Community exchange: 6 p.m Public hearing: 7 p.m. Location: In-person: Riverdale Town Center, 7210 Church Street, Riverdale, GA 30274. During the community exchange, MARTA service planners will be available to answer specific questions about the route and proposed modification. During the public hearing, the MARTA Board of Directors will consider comments received during the hearing, as well as comments made via email and voicemail prior to final approval of the proposed bus route modifications. On Saturday August 24th, the City of Jonesboro GA proclaimed Jeffery E. Turner Day. HONORING JEFFERY E. TURNER CHAIRMAN OF CLAYTON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS WHEREAS, Jonesboroβs Mayor and City Council with the utmost appreciation and respect, acknowledge Chairman Jeffery E. Turner for 12 years of dedicated service to the City of Jonesboro; and WHEREAS, Chairman Turnerβs career began when he was elected by voting constituency of Clayton County and transitioned into the office of Chairman of the Board of Commissioner in January 2013; and WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is the county seat for Clayton County. Chairman Turner understood that county and city governments are closest to citizens and people, therefore maintaining a positive relationship with the City of Jonesboro and other cities located in the county was of high importance to him because effective relationships between a city and the county assures that the citizens receive services in the most economic manner possible; and WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is a better place to live, work, and play because of Chairman Turnerβs support on various projects, developments, and initiatives; and WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro could always count on Chairman Turnerβs support with fitness initiatives. On August 23, 2014, Chairman Turner held his 1st Chairman Turner Fitness 5K Run/Walk 5K race; and WHEREAS, today, Saturday, August 24, 2024, marks his 10th Annual Fitness 5K Run/Walk - benefitting CASA and the Classie Mae Turner Scholarship Fund; and WHEREAS, without a doubt, Chairman Turner has served, guided, and lead the county and the city through some of its darkest days and most trying challenges, but being a Visionary Leader, he looked on the bright side and remained positive and optimistic; and WHEREAS, it is our belief that when people lead at a higher level, and build solid relationships they make the world a better place. REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS PUBLIC WORKS FACILITY
BUILDING AND SITE IMPROVEMENTS CITY OF JONESBORO Sealed bids will be received by the City of Jonesboro, Georgia from prospective contractors for improvements to the Public Works Facility including the existing building and site. Improvements to include repairs to the existing metal building, demolition, and building addition. Site work improvements include demolition of concrete parking lot, milling of parking lot, demolition and installation of new fencing, new asphalt and concrete parking lot, and utility improvements. The work cnsists of furnishing all materials, labor, tools, equipment and services necessary to complete the project. Bid Documents and Construction Plans can be picked up at Jonesboro City Hall, 1859 City Center Way, Jonesboro, GA 30236, beginning August 20, 2024 during normal business hours. Contract Document Addendums addressing all questions will be provided to all Registered Plan Holders. The deadline to submit questions must be emailed to Susan Crutchfield at susan@whitleyeng.com by 2:00 PM on
September 17, 2024. Response to Questions will be provided by Mark Whitley by
2:00 PM on September 25, 2024. Sealed Bids will
be received by the City of Jonesboro,

2:00 PM October 2, 2024 at which time they will be publicly opened and
read aloud. A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held on September 12, 2024 at
City Hall at 2.00 PM. No bid may be modified, withdrawn, or canceled for a period of thirty
(30) days after
the time designated for the
receipt of Bids or until the Bidder is notified by the City whichever is
sooner. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive
irregularities, technicalities and formalities. Each bid shall be accompanied by a Bid Bond in an amount of not less than five (5%) of the total bid amount. The Bid Bond may be in the form of a bond issued by a surety acceptable to the City. The entire Bid Bond shall be forfeited to the City of Jonesboro, Georgia as liquidated damages if the bidder fails to execute the Contract and provide a Performance and Payment Bond (100% of the total bid amount) within fifteen (15) days after being notified that bidder had been awarded the Contract. Construction must be completed within 6 months after the Notice to Proceed has been issued by the City.The successful bidder must be a Licensed General Contractor in the State of Georgia, post the required Performance and a Payment Bond, provide required insurance coverage and meet all requirements in the Bid Documents.

It's Farmers and Artisans Market time in the Boro! Our Market Committee meets periodically. Register as one of the vendors in our summer-long Farmer's and Artisan's Market. Our Market is hosted every Second Saturday, starting May 11th at Lee Street Park beginning at 09:00 a.m. and ending at 2:00 p.m. The market brings together many vendors offering a wide variety of home-grown items. In addition to the home-grown items, you can also find self care, health and wellness options, great gifts and sometimes even music.
