JANUARY 3, 2011
The City of Jonesboro Mayor and Council held a Called Council meeting and Work Session on Monday, January 3, 2011. The meeting was held at 6:00 p.m. at the Jonesboro Police Station, 170 South Main Street Jonesboro, Georgia.

Staff Present: Chief Allen, Joe Nettleton- Public Works Director, Sandra Meyers-Finance Director, and Assistant City Clerk/Administrative Assistant- Pat Daniel.
Mayor Maddox called the meeting to order.
ITEMS (A-C) CALLED
MEETING AGENDA:
A. Considered approval of the 2011 Proposed Budget. Approved. [Motion: Wiggins, 2nd: Norrington, Vote: Yea-Norrington, Sebo, Wiggins. Nay-Grider, Mann. Compton-abstain; Mayor-vote yea-in lieu of three/three vote].
B. Considered approval of Resolution for the reduction in the Homestead Exemption from
$60,000. to $30,000., for the purpose of submittal to the Clayton Legislative Delegation.
Approved. [Motion:Sebo, 2nd:Compton, Vote:Unanimous]
B. Considered application authorizing CDBG funding for Irvin Street-Phase II.
Approved. [Motion:Norrington, 2nd Grider,
Vote:Unanimous]
ITEMS (A-C) WORKSESSION
A. Discussed using the Phone tree system to notify the citizens/public of all Called, Work
Session and Regular Council Meetings. Councilmember Compton expressed concerns from citizens that they were not being informed of the meetings. Mayor Maddox said this was already being done. This will be brought before Council on January 10, 2011.
B.
Discussed the Resolution for reduction in Homestead
Exemption for the purpose of submittal to the Clayton Legislative Delegation. Mayor Maddox said this had already been taken
care of in a Called Meeting.
C. Discussed Conditional Use Request from John Agule (owner), concerning the property located at 8896 Tara Blvd., Suite 300. Mr. Agule is requesting Conditional Use for ‘Adult Day Care Services’ owned and operated by Ms. Brenda A. Roberts. Councilmember Norrington ask if anyone regarding this matter was present. Ms. Roberts came forward and stated her case. She said they have been in the Jonesboro area for 12 years with 200 employees. The property in question has been empty for one year.
Mayor Maddox called for a motion to adjourn. Approved. [Motion: Mann, 2nd: Norrington, Vote: Unanimous].
