Public Comments:
Nancy Coffman asked that the council please not
vote in the tax millage because businesses and people are hurting.
Jon Crane said that he echoes Ms. Coffman. He
stated that the Mayor ran on no taxes according to his campaign flyer. I know
things change, but donŐt put on the backs of the people of Jonesboro. They
canŐt afford it. You need to meet with the business owners. The property in Jonesboro is worth less
in the city now. Mr. Crane then stated that the 2nd notice in the
News-Daily was not legal. I helped
to get you all elected. Do not vote for this.
Beverly Lester questioned the necessity of imposing
taxes stating that the city has reserves and should use it. She stated that the
budget should be re-negotiated quarterly and that the elected officials are
responsible for looking out for the city.
Mayor Maddox closed the Public Hearing at 6:06 p.m.
