Safebuilt proposed fee schedule discussion-

Discussion ensued regarding changes to the Safebuilt proposed fee schedule and contract.  Mayor Maddox suggested that the items that the City provides should not be on SafebuiltÕs schedule. Mayor Maddox stated that he will bring this topic before Council on Monday, October, 10th, 2011.

Mayor Maddox asked Council for comments. Councilmember Wiggins said that he did not have any.  Councilmember Norrington asked if this is a one year contract. Mayor Maddox answered yes.

Department Head updates, proposals and discussions-

Chief Allen said he had no updates.  Joe Nettleton said the masonry work on the new City Hall sign is complete, and the Massengale Park bathroom roof was completed on October 3, 2011.  Councilmember Compton asked for an update on the Crepe Myrtles. Joe Nettleton advised that we will lose 14 trees. They are north of the Johnson Street crossover and south of Spring Street, we will lose 4 or 5 – 2 on each side of College Street.  Public Works will handle the Crepe Myrtles.  Councilmember Compton inquired if the remainder of the trees will be lit for Christmas.  Joe Nettleton responded that there is no power on the railroad.  We will need to install power there permanently.  Councilmember Compton asked about the city seal colors.    Councilmember Norrington said we need to smooth out the rough spots along the right-of-way so that we can maintain the grass.  Councilmember Sebo responded that losing 14 trees are better than losing all of them.  Mayor Maddox stated that the City negotiated the best we could and he expressed kudosÕs to Councilmember Sebo for her participation. We had great cooperation from Representative David Scott, Senator Saxby Chambliss and Senator Johnny Isakson.

Mayor Maddox called for a motion to adjourn. Approved. [Motion: Councilmember Norrington, 2nd: Councilmember Mann, Vote: Unanimous.]
