CALLED COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

DECEMBER 05, 2008

The City of Jonesboro Mayor and Council held a Called Council meeting on Friday, December, 5^th, 2008. The meeting was held at 10:00 a.m. at the Jonesboro Police Station, 170 South Main Street Jonesboro, Georgia.

Council Present: Luther Maddox, Mayor

Clarence Mann, Councilmember

Roger Grider, Councilmember

Wallace Norrington, Councilmember

Billy Powell, Councilmember

Rick Yonce, Councilmember

Bobby Wiggins Councilmember

Staff Present: Janice Truhan, Chief Wayne Rowland, Joe Nettleton, Brad Johnson, Tim

Jessup and Sandra Meyers.

Mayor Maddox called the meeting to order.

The Mayor explained the reason for the Called meeting, to eliminate $18,000.00 from the proposed budget. Discussion ensued regarding possible areas for reductions.

The Council engaged in budget discussions with department heads. Discussion ensued. The

discussion also entailed a call for a salary study.

Further motions made as to employee salaries.

Discussion continued regarding Sanitation. Public Works Director Joe Nettleton said there was

nothing to support Sanitation in his budget. Mayor Maddox stated that the City and County

attorney’s were in negotiation regarding dump fees and that citizens payments of service will

cover any costs. The Mayor asked the Sanitation committee Councilmember’s to include Joe

Nettleton in the meetings.

Mayor Maddox asked for a motion to adjourn. Approved. [Motion: Norrington, 2^nd: Grider,

Vote: Unanimous].
