CALLED COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

DECEMBER 2nd, 2008

The City of Jonesboro Mayor and Council held a Called Council meeting on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008. The meeting was held at 3:00 p.m. at the Jonesboro Police Station, 170 South Main Street Jonesboro, Georgia.

Council Present: Luther Maddox, Mayor

Clarence Mann, Councilmember

Roger Grider, Councilmember

Wallace Norrington, Councilmember

Billy Powell, Councilmember

Rick Yonce, Councilmember

Bobby Wiggins Councilmember - absent

Staff Present: Janice Truhan

GDOT and Clayton County Staff present: Gina Evans - Commissioner, Eric Stevens – GDOT Director, Mike Dover – GDOT, Steve Yost (Rail Pro) – GDOT, Harvey Kep – GDOT, Mike Thompson - Clayton County, Frank Buford (Clayton County Transportation Director), Eldrin Bell – Chairman Clayton County.

Mayor Maddox called the meeting to order. The floor was turned over to GDOT Commissioner

Gina Evans.

Presentation was made by Ms. Evans to discuss potential sites for the Commuter Rail Station and to determine who the point of contact is for monthly meetings with GDOT. Ms. Evans identified where GDOT was with available funding for the rail. GDOT looking for match dollars (approximately 17 million). Lead items are: cars, sites, and the environmental process. Ms. Evans detailed further issues identified as to the process, and possible funding. Mayor Maddox requested any further meetings to be ‘Town Hall Meetings’ and thanked Ms. Evans and staff for coming.
