Council Meeting Minutes 

The City of Jonesboro Mayor and Council held their monthly council meeting on Monday, May 14, 2007.  The meeting was held at 7:00 p.m. at the Jonesboro Police Station, 170 South Main Street, Jonesboro, Georgia. 

            Council Present:         Roger Grider

                                                Luther Maddox

                                                Bobby Wiggins

                                                Rick Yonce

                                                Mayor Joy Day                                               

Staff Present:  Janice Truhan, Chief Wayne Rowland, Brad Johnson, Joe Nettleton, Charles Carpenter.

Mayor Day called the meeting to order, followed by the pledge of allegiance.  Minutes of the April 2007 meeting were approved as written. [April 09, 2007 meeting, Regular Council Meeting, Motion:  Maddox, 2^nd: Mann - Vote: Unanimous]. 

There was old business to discuss, and there were amendments to the Agenda. 

The Mayor and Council voted unanimously to amend the Agenda to delete item four, Executive Session.  [Motion:  Wenz; 2^nd: Grider – Vote:  Unanimous]. 

The Council considered the following items (C-D, G-I.) on the agenda:

• Considered motion to have Clayton County ‘cap and fill’ wells on City property.  Quick Claim to City after complete.  Approved [Motion: Maddox, 2 ^nd: Wenz, Vote: Unanimous].
• Considered motion to endorse the University of Georgia in assisting in the development of the Tailgate Farmers Market.  Approved [Motion:  Wenz; 2^nd: Wiggins, Vote: yes – Wenz, Wiggins, Yonce; No: Grider, Maddox, Mann; tie breaker: Mayor Day].
• Considered tabled variance request, Steve C. Bullard - Approved. [Motion: Maddox; 2^nd: Grider, Vote: Unanimous].
• Considered tabled parade permit - New Birth South Metropolitan Church - Approved [Motion:  Wenz, 2^nd Wiggins; Vote:  Yes – Grider, Maddox, Mann, Wenz, Wiggins; No: Yonce].
• Considered Home Occupation – Kitchens and More, Inc.  190 Star Drive Mr. Floyd Martin. 

      Approved [Motion:  Maddox, Yonce 2^nd, Vote:  Unanimous]. 

 The meeting was adjourned by unanimous vote [Motion:  Mann, 2^nd:  Grider, Vote:  Unanimous].
