CITY OF JONESBORO

COUNCIL MEETING

MARCH 12, 2007

 

The City of Jonesboro Mayor and Council held their monthly council meeting on Monday, March 12, 2007.  The meeting was held at 7:00 p.m. at the Jonesboro Police Station, 170 South Main Street , Jonesboro , Georgia .

 

            Council Present:         Roger Grider

                                                Luther Maddox

                                                Clarence Mann

                                                Linda Wenz

                                                Bobby Wiggins

                                                Rick Yonce

                                                Mayor Joy Day

                                               

Staff Present:  Sam Durrance - Public Works Director; Brad Johnson – Assistant Chief of Police, Janice Truhan – City Clerk.  

Mayor Day called the meeting to order, followed by the pledge of allegiance.  Minutes of the February 2007 meeting were approved as written. [February 12, 2007 meeting, Regular Council Meeting, Motion:  Yonce, 2nd: Mann - Vote: Unanimous].  

There was no old business to discuss, nor were their amendments to the Agenda.  

The Council voted unanimously to go into Executive Session to discuss personnel matters and possible legal issues. [Motion: Maddox, 2nd: Grider, Vote:  Unanimous].  Following Executive Session, the Council voted unanimously to resume regular session [Motion: Maddox, 2nd: Grider, Vote:  Unanimous].  

The Council considered the following items (A through E) on the agenda:

  • Considered reverting back to the original City of Jonesboro Logo , approved. [Motion: Maddox, 2 nd: Grider, Vote: Unanimous].

  • Considered the parade permit for New Birth South Metropolitan Church . Representative- Elder Hazel P. Clayton not present, denied.  [Motion to deny: Maddox, 2nd: Wenz, Vote:  Unanimous].

  • Considered the Variance Request – Steve C. Bullard, owner, #236 & #238 Stockbridge Road , tabled.  [Motion to table: Maddox, 2nd: Wenz, Vote: Unanimous].  Steve Bullard to supply plans showing set backs and buffers.  Will submit new request after review.

  • Considered the business license request for the Home Occupation – Motivational Pearls, owner Charlene Mc Cracken, C.E.O., approved.  [Motion: Wenz, 2nd: Yonce, Vote: Unanimous].

 The meeting was adjourned by unanimous vote [Motion: Grider, 2nd: Mann, Vote:  Unanimous].
