CITY OF JONESBORO

June 11, 2007 Council Meeting Minutes

The City of Jonesboro Mayor and Council held their monthly Council meeting on Monday, June 11, 2007.  The meeting was held at 7:00 p.m. at the Jonesboro Police Station, 170 South Main Street Jonesboro, Georgia.

Staff Present:  Chief Wayne Rowland, Brad Johnson, Joe Nettleton.

Mayor Day called the meeting to order, followed by the pledge of allegiance.  Minutes of the May 2007 meeting were approved after noted modification to a grammatical error.

[May 14, 2007 meeting, regular Council meeting, Motion: Maddox, 2^nd: Wiggins, Vote:  Unanimous].

The Council voted unanimously to go into Executive Session to discuss personnel matters. [Motion: Yonce, 2^nd: Mann, Vote: Unanimous].  Following Executive Session, the Council voted unanimously to resume regular session. [Motion: Maddox, 2^nd: Wiggins, Vote: Unanimous].  Public comments were delivered by Barbara Emert.  The Agenda was amended to delete items C and H [Motion: Grider, 2^nd: Maddox, Vote: Unanimous].

The Council approved the following items (D-G, and I-K) on the amended agenda:

• Considered appointment of Public Works Director – Joe Nettleton [Motion:  Yonce, 2^nd: Grider, Vote: Unanimous]
• Considered motion to adopt Ordinance 6-11 & 6-46 – Alcoholic Beverage Ordinance [Motion: Grider, 2^nd: Yonce, Vote: yes – Grider, Maddox, Mann, Wiggins, Yonce; no – Wenz]
• Considered motion to adopt Ordinance 2-13 of the City Charter, Mayor and Council compensation. [Motion: Grider, 2^nd: Mann, Vote: yes – Grider, Maddox, Mann, Wiggins, Yonce; no-Wenz]
• Considered Resolution for lease of pool police cars through GMA [Motion: Maddox, 2^nd: Wenz, vote: Unanimous]
• Considered request for Alcohol License – Mr. Atulkumar D. Doshi [Motion: Grider, 2^nd: Maddox, Vote: Unanimous]
• Considered Parade Permit – Masonic Lodge – David Melton [Motion: Wenz, 2^nd: Mann, Vote: Unanimous]
• Considered request for Home Based Business – Keith’s Classic Homes [Motion: Mann, 2^nd: Yonce, Vote: Unanimous]

The meeting was adjourned by unanimous vote [Motion: Yonce, 2^nd: Wenz, Vote: Unanimous].
