CITY OF JONESBORO

COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

September, 10, 2007

 

 

The City of Jonesboro Mayor and Council held the monthly Council meeting on Monday, September 10, 2007.  The meeting was held at 7:00 p.m. at the Jonesboro Police Station, 170 South Main Street  Jonesboro, Georgia.

 

            Council Present:          Clarence Mann

                                                Linda Wenz

                                                Rick Yonce

                                                Mayor Joy Day

                                                Roger Grider  

                                                Bobby Wiggins

 

Staff Present:  Chief Wayne Rowland, Brad Johnson, Joe Nettleton, Charles Carpenter.

 

Mayor Day called the meeting to order, followed by the pledge of allegiance.

 

Public Comments were delivered by: Karen Sullivan, Daniel Hudson, and Robert Helper.

 

Minutes of August 3rd  Called meeting approved. [Motion: Grider, 2nd: Wenz, Vote:  Unanimous].   August 13, 2007 Monthly meeting approved and requires correction. [Motion: Wenz, 2nd: Yonce, vote: Unanimous]. Correction to be included at next regular meeting.  Minutes of July 9th, 2007 – no action taken.

 

The Council considered the following items -  A through D on the Agenda:

 

Item A – Considered Home Based business application – Divas and Debeniars Beauty Pageant and Model Search at 105 Thornton Drive  Jonesboro.  [Motion:Yonce, 2nd: Grider, Vote: Unanimous].

 

Item B – Consider motion to adopt Code Enforcements International Property Code Maintenance publication to be adopted in ordinance.  Motion made to put into Ordinance form. [Motion:  Grider, 2nd: Mann, Vote: Unanimous].

 

Item C – Motion made to acknowledge resignation of Luther Maddox, as required by law.  Acknowledged, no vote made.

 

Item D – Consider motion for Triple L. Electrical to install permanent underground wiring of Crepe Myrtles from West Mill Street to Johnson Street on Railroad bed. Quote received by Larry Mc Donald. Motion made to table item ‘D’ in lieu of obtaining bids. [Motion: Grider, 2nd: Yonce, Vote: Unanimous].

Item E – Consider adding motion to agenda for purchase of sirens. [Motion: failed, vote not unanimous].
