CITY OF JONESBORO The regular meeting of the Jonesboro Mayor and Council was held at Monday, October 13, 2003 at 7:00 pm, at 170 South Main Street.
Members Present: Councilman Ed Adair Councilman Luther Maddox Councilwoman Yvette McDonald Councilman Wallace Norrington Councilman Clifford “Rip” Sewell Councilman Rick Yonce Mayor Joy Day
Staff Present: Sam Durrance, Interim Public Works Director Mark Harris, Police Chief Jon Walker, City Manager
Mayor Day began the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Minutes: Councilman Sewell motioned, seconded by Councilwoman McDonald to approve the September 2003 minutes as written. The motion carried unanimously. Comprehensive Plan City Manager Jon Walker updated the council that four proposals concerning the Comprehensive Plan Updates have been received. Councilwoman McDonald motioned seconded by Councilman Sewell to have the Mayor and City Manager review the proposals and give council written feedback. The motion carried. Home Occupational License: James Odom, 205 Evenview Circle, requested a home occupational license to operate as a Home Repair Contractor. Councilman Sewell motioned, seconded by Councilman Maddox to issue Mr. Odom an occupational license for home repairs. The motion carried unanimously. Appointment of Poll Workers: Councilman Sewell motioned, seconded by Councilwoman McDonald to appoint Donna Nettleton, Amanda Roberts, Katherine Smith, Louise Bunn, Jo Barnett, Gwen Thomas and Vickie Smith as poll workers for the upcoming General Election. The motion carried unanimously. LARP Project Councilman Sewell motioned, seconded by Councilman Norrington to approve the LARP Project for Woodland Drive and Fifth Avenue, with the total cost of $25,140.00 being divided between Clayton County and the city. The motion carried unanimously. Rezoning Stockbridge Rd – Delvco Inc. Tim Tittle, Delvco Inc. requested the vacant property (Land Lot 12-B0005) be rezoned from C1-RM2 for the development of 72 townhomes. Councilman Sewell motioned, seconded by Councilman Adair to table this rezoning request and place on the October agenda so that concerns can be addressed. The motion carried unanimously. There being no further business, Councilman Sewell motioned seconded by Councilman Norrington to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried. ______________________ Joy B.
