Regular Meeting
November 12, 2001

The regular meeting of Mayor and Council was held November 12, 2001 with Mayor Day and the following members present: Yvette McDonald, Wallace Norrington, Clifford Sewell and Rick Yonce. Ed Adair and Luther Maddox were absent.

Mayor Day led the Pledge to the Flag.

The minutes of the October meeting were read and stand unanimously approved.

On a motion by Sewell, seconded by Norrington, item number six was deleted from the agenda. This was the agreement between the Clayton County Tax Commissioner and the City for filing delinquent occupation tax. The motion carried unanimously.

Sewell moved, seconded by Yonce, that the application of Jeremy Miller be approved allowing a sales office in his home at 105 Gloria Drive. This was with the stipulation that his company truck be no closer to the curb than six feet. The motion carried unanimously.

Gayla Hurst and Barbara Quick were advised that there were no objections to a real estate office at 1284 Spur #138.

Sewell moved, seconded by McDonald, that the Certificate of Intent be approved and signed to adopt the Georgia Municipal Employees' Benefit System Master Defined Benefit Plan for compliance with gust. The motion carried unanimously. A copy of the certificate is attached to the minutes for explanation and reference.

On a motion by Sewell, seconded by McDonald, it was unanimous to include $1,500 in the 2001 budget for Secarus House.

Sewell moved, seconded by Yonce, that the False Alarm ordinance be adopted as attached to the minutes for reference. The motion carried unanimously.

Mayor Day announced the November 6th election results as follows: Melissa Barnett-Castellaw 49 votes, Tom Hand 138 votes, Yvette McDonald 188 votes, Wallace Norrington 209 votes, Linda Wenz 143 votes and Yonce 174 votes.

Chip Nettleton, 176 College Street, addressed the Council concerning the removal of the "No Left Turn" signs on Fayetteville Road at Mill Street and College Street. He based this request upon the decrease in traffic since the Courthouse was relocated. Also, he expressed on behalf of his family and others on Church Street, teh opposition to the Baptist Church blocking the street for any party or function. Mayor Day advised that this request did not come through City Hall and she was unaware that permission had been granted by the Police Department. It was unanimously agreed that this should not be permitted.

Chief Wiggins announced the officers for 2002 and the date of the Fire Department Christmas Party to be December 14th at 7:00.

Mayor Day reminded everyone of the Christmas Parade to be Saturday November 17th at 4:30 P.M. She reported that the marker for Dickson Park will be approximately $3,500.00.

There being no further business, Sewell moved, seconded by Norrington that the meeting be adjourned. The motion carried unanimously.
