City of Jonesboro
Regular Meeting
May 13, 2002

     The regular meeting of Mayor and Council was held May 13, 2002 with Mayor Day and the following members present:  T. E. Adair, Luther Maddox, Yvette McDonald, Clifford Sewell and Rick Yonce; Wallace Norrington was absent.

      Mayor Day led in the Pledge to the Flag.

      The minutes of the April meeting were read and unanimously approved.

      On a motion by Sewell, seconded by McDonald, the request of Brenda Hill for a Car Wash at 231 Stockbridge Rd. was tabled until the June meeting upon the absence of Ms. Hill.

      Craig Rozar, owner of the property at 8266 Tara Blvd., was present  to request  purchasing the old pump station lot at the corner of Dixon and West Avenue.  He was advised that this would have to be advertised for sale.  Sewell moved, seconded by Yonce, that the property be advertised for sale.  The motion carried unanimously.

      On a motion by McDonald, seconded by Maddox, Mayor Day was authorized to pursue a grant as recommended by Kirby Glaze for Downtown Jonesboro.  The motion was amended to authorize Mayor Day to pursue any grants that would benefit Downtown Jonesboro.   The motion carried unanimously.

      Code Enforcer, Wayne Rowland, gave a report of his code enforcement activities throughout the City.

      Fire Chief, Jimmy Wiggins reported that the storm alert sirens will be tested the first Wednesday in each month around 12:00.

      There being no further business, Sewell moved, seconded by Adair that the meeting be adjourned.  The motion carried unanimously.
