City of Jonesboro The regular meeting of Mayor and Council was held January 8, 2001 with Mayor Day and the following members present: T.E.Adair, Luther Maddox, Yvette McDonald, Wallace Norrington, Clifford Sewell, and Rick Yonce. The minutes of the December meeting were read aloud and stand approved. On a motion by Maddox, seconded by Norrington, Council went into executive session to consult with the City Attorney. The motion carried unanimously. Upon completion of the consultation, Sewell moved, seconded by Maddox that regular session be resumed. The motion carried unanimously. Sewell, moved seconded by Norrington that the Resolution #001 as attached to the minutes be passed. This resolution rescinds the October 3, 2000 termination based upon a voluntary letter of resignation submitted by Montgomery and effective October 3, 2000. The motion carried unanimously. On a motion by Maddox, seconded by Sewell, the request for additional streetlights on Burkshire Court be denied. The motion carried unanimously. The first reading and hearing of the proposed Charter Amendment was held. There was no response from the audience. Maddox moved, seconded by Norrington that this amendment be adopted wih the inclusion of minor grammatical changes. The motion carried unanimously. Gerald Echols, 143 North Avenue, addressed Council concerning the noise and loud music from the house at 148 North Avenue. Mayor Day advised that she would follow up on the complaint. There being no further business, Sewell moved, seconded by Adair, that the meeting be adjourned. The motion carried unanimously.
