Regular Meeting
January 10th, 2000
The regular meeting of Mayor and Council was held January 10, 2000 with Mayor Day and the following members present: T. E. Adair, Luther Maddox, Yvette McDonald, Wallace Norrington, and Clifford Sewell. Shirley Wynn was absent.
The minutes of the December meeting were read and stand approved. On a motion by Sewell, seconded by McDonald, the agenda was amended to include the annual appointments. The motion carried unanimously.
Adair moved, seconded by Maddox that the request of Noel Edwards be approved to enclose the front porch with glass at 191 North Main Street. Sewell commented that no exact drawings have been submitted. The motion lost. Adair and Maddox were in favor of the request; McDonald, Norrington and Sewell opposed.
Mr. Jack Farrar was present to address Council concerning his request to to operate a group home on Spring Street. Upon the recommendation of the City Attorney, there was no response from the Council to his request. He was advised that he could obtain any information in regards to proper procedures and obtain a copy of the ordinance regarding R-4 zoning in the City Hall office. Sewell moved, seconded by McDonald, that the annual appointments be made as attached to minutes. The motion carried unanimously.
Councilman Sewell gave a report on the Gayden House project.
On a motion by Sewell, seconded by McDonald, Council went into Executive Session. After discussion of personnel matters, Sewell moved, seconded by McDonald that the regular session be resumed. The motion carried unanimously.
There being no further business, Sewell moved, seconded by
Norrington that the meeting be adjourned.
