City of Jonesboro The regular meeting of Mayor and Council was held February 12, 2001 with Mayor Day and the following members present: T.E.Adair, Luther Maddox, Wallace Norrington, Clifford Sewell and Rick Yonce. Yvette McDonald was absent. The minutes of the January meeting were read and stand approved. The ordinance to amend the charter came before the Council for the second time. There was a final adoption by Sewell, seconded by Maddox. The motion carried unanimously. A copy is attached to the minutes for reference. Brenda Short was present requesting a building variance for two lots on Pine Circle. The request was for approximately two feet variance on the required lot width. Norrington moved, seconded by Maddox that this request be approved. The motion carried unanimously. Gayla Hurst came before Council concerning the feasibility of a car wash at 1284 Spur 138 with the realization that this was contingent upon rezoning. She was advised to have all details concerning the lot and proposed building at the time of the rezoning hearing. It was unanimously agreed for the city attorney to draft an ordinance concerning overnight parking on city streets. Sewell suggested that any vehicle left for 72 hours should be considered abandoned and would like that included in the ordinance. On a motion by Maddox, seconded by Adair, Jimmie Scott was granted permission to have an office for his drywall business at 151 Spring Street. The motion carried unanimously. Sewell moved, seconded by Yonce, that the employees as listed on the attached list be re-appointed for 2001 with an indication that William and Kevin Gilham are part time employees. The motion carried unanimously. There being no further business, Sewell moved, seconded by Norrington that the meeting be adjourned. The motion carried unanimously.
