Regular Meeting
December 13th, 1999
The regular meeting of Mayor and Council was held December 13, 1999 with Mayor Day and all members present as follows: T. E. Adair, Richard Jester, Yvette McDonald, Wallace Norrington, Clifford Sewell and Shirley Wynn.
The minutes of the November meeting were read and stand approved.
On a motion by Wynn, seconded by Adair, Joe Compton was granted permission to operate an office for his painting and small construction business at 125 Arnold Place. The motion carried unanimously.
Wynn moved that the request of Noel Edwards be denied to close in the porch in glass at 191 North Main Street . There was no second. Norrington moved, seconded by Sewell, that this request be tabled until Mr. Edward is present. The motion carried unanimously.
Wynn moved, seconded by Norrington, that the request of Henry Hand for and exemption to the building moratorium be tabled until the Called Meeting, December 30P. in order to get an opinion from the City Attorney. Mr. Hand's contention was that he was in the process of producing documents and plans as
required to accompany the application prior to the moratorium even though he had not obtained a building permit. The motion carried unanimously.
On a motion by Wynn, seconded by Norrington, Mr. Dan Astin was granted permission to build a storage building at 187 Church Street within three feet of the property line whenever a letter is obtained from the east side adjoining property owner stating no objection. The motion carried unanimously.
Fire Chief, Jimmy Wiggins exhibited a sample of the Y2K Emergency Signs.
Mayor Day presented Richard Jester, whose council term will end December 31't, with a plaque for his eight years of dedicated service.
Mayor Day reported that the projected date for the Fire Station completion is April 18
There being no further business, Sewell moved, seconded by Wynn, that the meeting be adjourned. The motion carried unanimously.
